Safeguarding at Little Quay Nursery and Learning Hub

Our Commitment to Safety

At Little Quay Nursery, safeguarding is the heart of everything we do. We believe every child deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported — and we hold that promise with vigilance, kindness, and professional integrity. From our emotional environment to our physical spaces, safeguarding is threaded through every action and interaction.

What Is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding means protecting children from harm — including physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and online risks. We also safeguard well-being by promoting open communication, nurturing relationships, and providing a consistent sense of trust.

Who’s Responsible?

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, but our dedicated leads manage the process:

  • Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Eve Vollans

  • Deputy DSL: Nursery Manager

How We Keep Children Safe

  • All staff are trained to recognise signs of harm.

  • Concerns are recorded securely using CPOMS.

  • We work closely with families and professionals.

  • Visitors are risk assessed and site access is controlled.

  • Children are encouraged to speak, share, and feel heard.

Working in Partnership

We aim for transparency and collaboration. If a concern arises, we will usually talk to you — unless doing so puts your child at greater risk. We handle all information sensitively and share only where necessary to protect a child.
